Retro Orange VW Bus

We are on a constant mission to find the hottest competition and daily driven vehicles out there to feature and this retro VW Bus is no exception. It might not be local but that doesn’t take away from the pure class this retro orange bus just oozes out. We came across this feature on the Performance Auto and Sound website and just knew the local croud would dig it especially since Henk from DVL is busy with a similar project which we will feature as soon as its done.

Richard Sampson from Port St. Lucie, FL resident started with this 1960’s cultural icon and transformed it from a dilapidated 1960 VW Bus into a truly spectacular show-piece.

The incredible transformation took over a year to complete with a price tag of over R500 000 ($65 000).  The bus was completely rebuilt from the ground up with everything stripped and redone. The suspension was  lowered perfectly to bring the extensively customised body down to the perfect height from the vary rare RDW Maltese Cross 15″ wheels.

On the inside you will find the magic transformation continued with a brand new custom interior. A limo style seating arrangement and custom headliner sporting some dramatic lighting perfectly combines old and new world styles.

The audio system comprises of no less than 4 JL Audio 10W3V2 subwoofers powered by the new JL Audio HD750.1 mono amplifier. The vocals and instruments are taken care of by the JL Audio CS-650 6.5″ speakers up front and a set of JL Audio CS650X 6.5″ speakers in the rear. Both sets are powered by the JL Audio HD600.4 4 channel amplifier.

The system is controlled by a JVC KD-AVX77 single DIN headunit and some Gryphon Mobile 17″ screens are installed to provide the visual entertainment.

All in all a fantastic vehicle with great workmanship and dedication that really shows.
